Mammoth Cave National Park in Kentucky has humorously responded to being ranked as one of the most disappointing tourist attractions in the US.
In a recent Facebook post, the park embraced the negative reviews, inviting visitors to “experience what has disappointed millions of people for over 225 years.”
The park’s playful response has garnered positive attention on social media, with over 100,000 interactions and 30,000 shares.
Despite some negative reviews, with 19.38% of people expressing dissatisfaction, the park boasts strong ratings on Google (4.7/5) and Tripadvisor (4.5/5).
Mammoth Cave’s non-traditional marketing strategy banks on turning its flaws into strengths.
Other similar campaigns include Volkswagen’s “Think Small” ads and the Nebraska Tourism Commission’s slogan, “Nebraska, honestly it’s not for everyone,” which interestingly increased the tourist influx into the state.
