The first major storm of 2025 is set to affect 60 million Americans across the Ohio Valley to the mid-Atlantic, with heavy snow, ice and rain. Around 30 states will witness severe weather conditions.

The weather is expected to disrupt morning commutes, delay school openings and impact air travel, especially along the East Coast.

Schools in affected areas, including Washington, DC and Cincinnati, will be closed. Missouri and Arkansas also declared states of emergency.

By early Monday, the storm had canceled 1,260 flights. Widespread power outages left 193,000 customers without electricity.

As temperatures plunged to 12-25°F below normal, forecasters warned of severe disruptions in the Ohio Valley, Mid-Atlantic and Florida, with the polar vortex stretching south.
