California wants the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to approve its plan to ban sales of gasoline-only automobiles in the state by 2035, according to Reuters.
The California Air Resources Board (CARB), which approved the plan in August, asked the EPA to approve a waiver under the Clean Air Act on Monday.
If approved
Under California’s Clean Air Act, zero-emission rules can be applied to vehicles from 2026.
