Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met President Donald Trump in Washington on Monday, marking their second meeting since Trump returned to office.

Netanyahu became the first foreign leader to engage Trump after he imposed sweeping tariffs on “Liberation Day” last week, which included a 17% tariff on Israeli goods.

Netanyahu promised to eliminate Israel’s trade deficit with the US. Trump, however, said he would not pause the tariff rollout, noting the US already gives Israel $4 billion annually in aid.

Their meeting comes 18 months into Israel’s war in Gaza.

At home, Netanyahu faces pressure to secure ceasefire talks. Protests continue as families of hostages demand action.
