In an Instagram post penned in Hebrew, rapper Ye (earlier known as Kanye) issued an apology to the Jewish community on Tuesday, expressing regret for his past antisemitic remarks.
Ye expressed remorse for any unintended offense and pain caused by his words and actions. The Anti-Defamation League welcomed the gesture, but the American Jewish Committee criticized the use of Hebrew—calling it inaccessible and questioning the sincerity of the apology.
The apology follows his contentious Las Vegas rant less than two weeks back. At the event promoting his upcoming album Vultures, Ye made troubling references to Jewish influence, comparing himself to Jesus Christ and Adolf Hitler.
Ye has a history of offensive remarks. Apart from criticism, many brands, like Adidas, Balenciaga, and the talent agency CAA, severed ties with him, costing him his billionaire status.
