The House Ethics Committee report on former Rep. Matt Gaetz was released yesterday. Investigators found that between 2017 and 2020, Gaetz had allegedly paid at least $91,000 to 12 women, including a 17-year-old, for sex.
The report also claims Gaetz purchased and used illegal drugs on multiple occasions, including from his Capitol Hill office. It states he violated federal and state laws and House rules.
Gaetz, who resigned from Congress last month, denies all allegations. He sued to block the report’s release, claiming defamation. The committee, split on releasing the report, ultimately voted to do so despite opposition from some Republicans.
The Florida Republican was President-elect Donald Trump’s attorney general pick but withdrew due to opposition over sexual misconduct allegations.
