The Senate delayed Rep. Elise Stefanik’s confirmation for nearly two months due to concerns about its impact on Trump’s legislative agenda|@RepStefanik|X

President Donald Trump withdrew Rep. Elise Stefanik’s nomination for US ambassador to the United Nations, citing the GOP’s slim House majority.

Republicans hold 218 seats, while Democrats have 213. New York Republican Stefanik’s vote has been crucial for passing key legislation.

The Senate delayed her confirmation for nearly two months, fearing her departure could weaken Trump’s legislative power. The President emphasized the need to keep every Republican seat, stating Stefanik is crucial to the “America First Agenda”.

President Trump’s decision comes days before two special elections in Florida to replace GOP lawmakers who joined his administration.

Trump has not named a new UN post nominee but said, “Others can do a good job.” Stefanik will rejoin House leadership immediately.
