The R&B singer Robert Sylvester Kelly was sentenced to 30 years in prison yesterday for sexually abusing women, girls, and boys for decades using his fame.
A US District Judge Ann Donnelly declared the sentence in Brooklyn Federal court after the victims of R.Kelly addressed him angrily at the hearing.
Kelly’s attorneys argued that a sentence of more than 10 years would be “greater than necessary.”

Despite being found guilty in September 2021 of sexually and psychologically abusing many victims, most of whom were minors at the time, his album sales jumped more than 500% in the week following his conviction.
