Netflix to focus more on bigger projects to regain subscription numbers|Saturday Night Live|via Giphy
Netflix has pinned all its hopes on The Gray Man, its most expensive film to date, to bring up its dwindling subscriber numbers.
The streaming platform lost 200,000 subscribers in the first quarter and almost a million in the second.
Made at a budget of over $200 million, The Gray Man is being touted as a mega money-spinner, with its stacked cast and exhilarating action-packed sequences.
What went wrong for Netflix
Even after the release of big projects like The Adam Project and Stranger Things—which also joined the billion-hour viewing club—Netflix still lost subscribers two quarters in a row.
The increase in monthly prices and never-ending password-sharing practice have contributed to the sharp decline in subscriber numbers.
Netflix is now focusing on ways to regain its numbers by introducing a pocket-friendly but ad-supported alternative and also plans to spend high on adaptations and original content.
Netflix, reportedly, is focusing on adapted live-action titles like Avatar: The Last Airbender and One Piece.
