The US is investigating the unauthorized release of classified documents regarding Israel’s plans to retaliate against Iran’s ballistic missile attack on October 1.
The leaked documents, dated October 15 and 16, surfaced online after they were posted on Telegram on Friday.
These top-secret files, restricted to the “Five Eyes” intelligence alliance of US, UK, Canada, New Zealand and Australia, detail Israel’s preparations, including moving munitions and air force exercises involving air-to-surface missiles.
House Speaker Mike Johnson called the leak “deeply concerning” and warned it could erode trust in US-Israeli relations. The investigation aims to determine who had access to these documents.
Notably, one document hints at Israel possessing nuclear weapons, although it states there are no indications of plans to use them against Iran.
