Ukraine has agreed to a mineral rights deal with the US that could be signed as early as Friday, according to senior officials from the two nations.

The agreement comes after tense exchanges between President Donald Trump and his counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky.

The deal aims to secure continued US military aid to Ukraine and involves joint access to rare earth minerals and other resources.

But, it reportedly does not include the Trump administration’s demand for $500 billion in profits from the minerals.

President Zelensky is expected to travel to Washington to meet President Trump for the signing.

Studies show Ukraine has over 100 major deposits of critical minerals. It holds the largest uranium reserves in Europe, 6% of global titanium production, and one-third of Europe’s lithium reserves, a crucial element to EV batteries.
