Trump has been fighting for years to block the release of his tax returns|Library of Congress|No known restrictions on publication
In a significant blow to former President Donald J Trump, the Supreme Court on Tuesday denied his request to block access to his tax return documents from his presidential days.
The denial implies the Democrat-led House Ways and Means Committee will have access to six years of Trump's tax returns. Since 2019 the committee has been trying to access these documents, but the Trump-era Treasury Department denied them.
Welcoming SC’s decision, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said, “Congress must enact legislation requiring Presidents and candidates for President to disclose their tax returns.”
