In his annual financial disclosure form released yesterday, Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas disclosed three trips he took over the past year on billionaire Harlan Crow’s private jet.
It is the first time in nearly two decades that he has disclosed such gifts and travel. Justice Thomas’s and Crow’s relationship has come under scrutiny after the former did not report his previous trips with the Republican billionaire who’s also a GOP megadonor.
In his defense, the Supreme Court Justice said he was told he did not need to disclose “gifts received as the personal hospitality of any individual.”
Regarding the three trips taken last year, Justice Thomas said his security detail advised him not to fly commercially after the leak of the SCOTUS decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.
