Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Washington DC

The Trump administration posted a list of 443 federal properties for potential sale but abruptly removed them a day later. The list included iconic buildings such as the Justice Department headquarters in Washington, DC, and the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

The General Services Administration (GSA) highlighted these office spaces as “functionally obsolete and unsuitable for use by our federal workforce.” It stated that selling them would save over $430 million in annual operating costs.

The GSA’s push to sell underutilized federal properties stems from the Elon Musk-led Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which has championed cost-cutting measures.

The list is expected to return after further review.
